The Atchafalaya Basin, or Atchafalaya Swamp is the largest wetland and swamp in the United States. Located in south central Louisiana, it is a combination of wetlands and river delta area where the Atchafalaya River and the Gulf of Mexico converge. The river stretches from near Simmesport in the north through parts of eight parishes to the Morgan City area in the south. Best know for its iconic cypress-tupelo swamps, at 260,000 acres this block of forest represents the largest remaining contiguous tract of coastal cypress in the U.S..
Family-owned and operated, we here at America’s largest swamp take great pride in showing our guest a great and unique cajun experience. Our family and friendships grows with every new guest. We would love to show you the beauty of our home surroundings. Our guides were born and raised in the area. We will share with you the knowledge and natural beauty of the swamp.
Located in America’s largest Swamp the Atchafalaya Basin 15 minutes from Morgan City boat landing or Pierre Part/Belle River boat landing. Houseboat sleeps ( 2 queen beds, 3 full beds, 2 twin beds), 2 full baths, generator powered, air conditioning, satellite TV, all linen, dishes, pots, pans, stove, oven, refrigerator, hot shower, barbeque grill, ice chest. Outdoor Screened in kitchen 20’x20′. We supply boat transportation and life vest to and from houseboat.
- Children of all ages must be supervised at all times. No exceptions.
- Any type of social events or gatherings must be approved by the owner.
